Low Carbon Vehicle Technologies & Supply Chain Development
The Low Carbon KTN, SMMT Foresight Vehicle and the Automotive Applications Division of IOM3 are pleased to announce this low carbon vehicle partnering event; a one day seminar on Thursday 4th February 2010 in the International Manufacturing Centre Auditorium at Warwick University, Coventry.

In the forthcoming Integrated Delivery Programme call (competition 4) the Technology Strategy Board will focus on projects which demonstrate significant CO2 improvement through the development of the UK automotive supply chain capability. The objective of this seminar is to stimulate innovative research projects and consortia to address this need, delivering vehicle-centric technologies for ultra low carbon vehicle applications.

• Session 1 - Direction and Funding - here will be presentations from TSB and others about the current direction of thinking on Low Carbon strategy for the UK and the imminent research call.

• Session 2 - Supply Chain Research Opportunities - this session will include presentations in key areas including Internal combustion engines (next generation low CO2 engine technologies, including for range extending engines), Energy storage and energy management (covering investment into new cell chemistry, but also packaging of cells into packs, supply of packs or the combination of fly-wheels and batteries). Lightweight vehicle and powertrain structures (an integrated and collaborative programme to develop lightweight concept vehicles, potentially using experience and technology from the aerospace and motor sports industries). Power electronics and electric machines (aim is to invest in programmes that help develop a supply chain for these systems).

The afternoon sessions will be oriented towards reviewing technology opportunities and will offer a networking session for consortia to come together.

• Session 3 - Innovation Opportunities Showcase which will offer 5 minute slots for delegates to showcase any ideas for projects for the Low Carbon Vehicles Integrated Delivery Programme Competition 4.

• Session 4 - Speed Networking, breakout areas will be made available for each of the ideas presented then delegates will have the opportunity to network and build consortia.
